There is Nothing More Important on an ÒùЦ½ºþ Project than Safety.
The people working on our projects are our most valuable resources, and we want to ensure that everyone goes home safely. ÒùЦ½ºþ believes all injuries and occupational illnesses can be prevented, and we work tirelessly to hone our means and methods to ensure predictable, safe results.
ÒùЦ½ºþ’s corporate health and safety program, SafeRing, enables us to complete our work in the safest means possible to achieve zero incidents. While our zero incident goal is ambitious, it is also achievable. SafeRing uses four guiding principles:
- Plan
- Communicate
- Observe
- Improve
Safe work begins with planning; we review all aspects of each project to address hazards and mitigate project risks. We communicate our expectations to ensure everyone on site understands the project-specific safety plan. ÒùЦ½ºþ employees observe the work on site to make sure that we are doing what we say we are going to do. By learning from our observations, planning how to address areas of improvements and communicating our best practices and lessons learned, we continuously improve safeness on our projects.
Culture of Safety
ÒùЦ½ºþ brings a culture of safety to all of our projects. We use a combination of institutional and behavioral methods to create a safe environment. To build a strong sense of respect for a construction site’s unique challenges, we use worker engagement, positive incentives, and training to eliminate at-risk behavior. While nationally-regulated standards are the basic building blocks of our safety plan, we continually strive to surpass them in our quest for zero incidents.
In Canada, ÒùЦ½ºþ’s commitment to safety is reflected in our COR certification. The COR program is aimed at driving positive workplace behavior and practices that lead to improved performance. COR is nationally trademarked and endorsed by participating members of the Canadian Federation of Safety.
Regardless of location, we have found that safe projects are positive places to work. They are better organized, cleaner and more likely to stay on schedule. Our safety culture promotes an environment where workers know that they matter and are empowered to create a safer workplace.
